What is the proper way to shower with tape-in extensions?

Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner: This prevents weakening the tape bonds and keeps the hair hydrated. Be gentle when washing: Massage your scalp gently and avoid pulling or tugging near the tape bonds. Avoid conditioner near the tapes: Apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends to prevent the tapes from slipping. Dry thoroughly: After showering, gently towel-dry and avoid sleeping with wet hair to protect the tapes.

What is the difference between the Invisible, Slim and Ultra Slim tape-ins?

Invisible Tape-Ins: Offer the most natural look, with individual strands appearing to grow from a skin-like base, making them nearly invisible. Slim Tape-Ins: A traditional option with a wider, durable tape that provides a strong hold and blends well with natural hair. Ultra Slim Tape-Ins: Similar to Slim but with a smaller outer strip for greater discretion, offering the same strength with less visible bonds.

“I’ve been wearing weft extensions for a long time but these ones are next level, the quality of them are beautiful, so soft and they look amazing! They also arrived very quickly!”

Jessica H.

“10/10 recommend. I’m now ordering 2 more packs of the highlighted 3c tapes to make my hair pop for summer 😍 Thanks XJ for helping.”

Brett A.

“I ordered two packs, and for very fine hair they are definitely enough. That said, now that I have seen how natural and comfortable they are, I already want to order two more for even more volume 😁. I also want to mention that the customer service team was incredibly kind, professional, and understanding throughout the whole process.”

Carol F.

“High quality hair. Very soft and blendable. So far I’ve bought tape-ins, tape remover, and the tool for securing the tape. All are great. Highly recommend their products. However, be very careful when placing an order. There’s very little the agents are able to do for you. That being said, don’t let it stop you. Great products.”

Laura D.

“Love XJHair Hair Shop. Been buying hair extensions from them for 13 years. They are the very best you can buy. Great service too.”

Alexia B.

“They are extremely realistic, they wash and style perfectly. Would highly recommend and will be purchasing again. Excellent quality, strong stitching, wonderful customer service. What’s not to love?”

Important Usage Tips

Tape-in extensions are lightweight and gentle on your scalp, making them a safe choice for regular use. The tape is reusable and long-lasting, with a suggested replacement every 4-6 weeks to maintain strong adhesion. With proper care, the extensions can last up to 2-3 months. If the tape loses its stickiness due to prolonged storage, exposure to heat, or improper use, please contact us immediately, and we will provide a replacement at no extra cost.

Color Matching Service

We understand that color accuracy can be tricky due to monitor variations. Rest assured, we are happy to assist you in selecting the perfect shade. Simply inform us of your desired color, and we will ensure your extensions match your natural hair color closely.

FAQ

Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner: This prevents weakening the tape bonds and keeps the hair hydrated.
Be gentle when washing: Massage your scalp gently and avoid pulling or tugging near the tape bonds.
Avoid conditioner near the tapes: Apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends to prevent the tapes from slipping.
Dry thoroughly: After showering, gently towel-dry and avoid sleeping with wet hair to protect the tapes.

To brush your hair with tape-in extensions, use a soft-bristle or loop brush designed for extensions. Start at the ends and gently work upward, holding the roots near the tapes to avoid tugging. Be careful around the tape bonds and brush daily to prevent tangling and extend the life of your extensions.

When sleeping with tape-in hair extensions, it’s important to follow these steps to protect both your natural hair and the extensions:
Tie your hair up: Loosely tie your hair into a low ponytail, braid, or bun to prevent tangling and reduce friction on the extensions.
Use a satin pillowcase: Satin pillowcases help minimise friction, which can prevent tangling and reduce strain on the tapes.
Brush your hair before bed: Gently brush your hair to remove any tangles before sleeping, ensuring the extensions stay smooth and untangled.

Don’t sleep with wet hair: Make sure your hair is completely dry before going to bed, as sleeping with wet extensions can lead to tangling and weaken the tape bonds.

Tape-in extensions do not typically fall out easily when applied correctly. A secure application with medical-grade tape ensures that the extensions stay in place for 6-12 weeks before needing refitting. However, if the extensions are not applied properly, if the adhesive is compromised by oily products, or if aftercare instructions (such as avoiding excessive heat or using sulphate-free products) aren’t followed, the tapes may loosen or slip. Proper installation, maintenance, and aftercare will keep tape-in extensions secure and long-lasting.

Yes, you can wear a ponytail with tape-in extensions, but it’s important that the extensions are applied correctly to ensure a natural look. For the best results, have your extensions placed strategically by a professional to ensure they lie flat against your scalp. This will make the tapes less visible when styling your hair up in a ponytail, bun, or other updo. Additionally, wait 48 hours after application to give the adhesive time to fully set before styling in tight hairstyles.

Yes, you can wash your hair with tape-in extensions, but it’s important to follow a proper routine to maintain both the extensions and your natural hair. Use a sulphate-free shampoo to avoid weakening the adhesive bonds, and gently massage your scalp, being careful around the tapes. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the tape area to prevent slippage. Washing 1-2 times a week maximum is ideal to keep the extensions in great condition. However, avoid washing your hair for at least 48 hours after application to give the adhesive time to fully set for long-lasting results.

Tape-in hair extensions typically last 6 to 12 weeks before requiring a refitting. The exact duration depends on factors such as the quality of application, the aftercare routine, and the natural growth rate of your hair. With proper care, including avoiding oily products near the bonds, using sulphate-free shampoo, and minimizing heat exposure near the tapes - the tape-in bonds can stay secure for the full 6-12 weeks.

However, the hair itself can last much longer, up to several months, and can be reused multiple times if removed carefully and re-taped by a professional. To maximise the lifespan of the extensions, it’s essential to follow a diligent aftercare routine and schedule regular maintenance.

The number of tape-in extensions you need depends on two main factors: your natural hair thickness and the volume you want to achieve. Generally, for a full head of extensions, you will need around 150 to 200 grams of hair, which equates to 6-8 packs of tape-in extensions.

For fine or thin hair, fewer packs may be sufficient, while thicker hair or those seeking more dramatic volume might require more. It’s recommended to consult with a hair extensions specialist who can assess your hair type and desired look to provide a more accurate recommendation.

Yes, you can place an order for the color swatch by sending an email to the customer service email provided on the website for inquiries.

Dyeing or toning tape-in hair extensions is not recommended, as it can damage the hair and weaken the tape bonds. For best results, it’s advised to select the closest shade or consult a professional for custom coloring options.

Invisible Tape-Ins: Offer the most natural look, with individual strands appearing to grow from a skin-like base, making them nearly invisible.
Slim Tape-Ins: A traditional option with a wider, durable tape that provides a strong hold and blends well with natural hair.
